Capability 04

The backbone: secure cabling and a hardened network

Your security network is part of the perimeter, and it can be attacked. We build the cabling and the network so that installing a security system does not create a new way into your property or your home network.

We do not leave an open door into your system. Default credentials are changed, remote access is deliberate, traffic is segmented, and everything we touch is documented and handed over.

Scope of Work

Infrastructure that will still be sound in ten years

The unglamorous layer is where most systems quietly degrade. It is specified and finished with the same care as the gate.

Structured cabling

Correctly rated, correctly routed, properly terminated and labelled runs, protected where they pass through vulnerable ground.

Network segmentation

Security devices separated from household and guest traffic, so a weakness in one does not become a path into the other.

Hardening

Default credentials eliminated, unused services closed, firmware brought current, and remote access configured deliberately.

Equipment enclosures

Recording and network equipment housed with proper power, ventilation, and physical access control instead of an open closet shelf.

Power continuity

Backup power sized so the layers that matter keep working through an outage rather than failing open.

Documentation

As-built drawings, labelled runs, and a credential handover so the next contractor is not guessing, and neither are you.

Installation Hygiene

How security systems become the weakness

Almost every serious gap we find in the field was introduced by an installer, not by a manufacturer.

01

Credentials left at default

Widely published default logins remain on more residential systems than owners would believe. It is the first thing anyone checks.

02

Flat networks

When cameras, operators, and household devices share one flat network, compromising the weakest device exposes everything on it.

03

Convenience remote access

Ports opened to make a phone app work are frequently left open and forgotten, years after the technician has gone.

04

Exposed cabling

Accessible runs at gates and along fence lines can be cut or tapped. Routing and protection are security decisions, not tidiness.

Next Step

Have the backbone reviewed

An authorized assessment includes system and network hygiene, so you learn whether your own security infrastructure is a liability.
